Large External Knee Blocks
The defining feature of the Ithaka AP is its large external knee block, providing substantial support through the rider’s leg and helping to maintain a secure, balanced position.
Unlike the Velcro-mounted blocks of the standard Ithaka, the AP’s external block creates a more structured and supportive feel for riders who prefer greater stability through the thigh and knee.
Premium Double Calf Leather
The Ithaka AP is crafted exclusively in double calf leather, giving the saddle an exceptionally soft, supple and grippy finish.
This premium construction enhances the connection between horse and rider while providing the refined feel expected from a performance dressage saddle.
Choice of Panel Construction
The Ithaka AP is available with either traditional wool-flocked panels or Kentaur’s Felt (French) panels, allowing the panel construction to be selected to best suit the individual horse.
Wool-flocked panels offer excellent scope for adjustment by a qualified saddle fitter, while the Felt (French) panel has a synthetic wool core wrapped in felt and covered with leather. Its edgeless construction maintains its shape and thickness particularly well and can be individually shaped to create a smooth, comfortable contact surface against the horse.
Ithaka AP Variations
The Ithaka AP family is also available in several variations, giving riders different levels and styles of leg support:
Ithaka APK – Features shorter front blocks that stabilise the rider’s upper leg while allowing complete freedom from the knee down.
Ithaka APM – Features a medium-length knee roll, offering an intermediate level of support for riders who prefer greater freedom through the leg.
Ithaka AP Monoflap – Combines the supportive characteristics of the Ithaka AP with a monoflap construction, reducing the layers beneath the rider’s leg for an even more direct connection with the horse.
